Newspapers show proof of entering new era

According to the Newspaper Association of America, newspaper circulation grew in 2012 for the first time in a decade due to paid digital subscriptions. The Los Angeles Times reports that newspapers generated $10.4 billion in circulation revenue in 2012, a 5% increase over the previous year. It was the first gain since 2003, as more consumers read newspaper content on desktops, tablets and cellphones. While this increase in circulation certainly isn’t making up for the overall revenue losses that newspapers have experienced over recent years, it is a move in the right direction.
