Mobile local ad spend to hit $5.8B in 2016

We knew it was coming. The day when mobile ad spend would surpass the $5 billion dollar mark. Well, according to a report out today from BIA/Kelsey, total mobile local ad spend will hit $5.8 billion in 2016 compared to $1.62 billion just last year.

“Growth drivers include smartphone penetration, location data, ad targeting innovation and advertiser evolution to utilize these factors for higher-performing mobile local ad campaigns,” Michael Boland, program director, mobile local media, BIA/Kelsey, said in a release.
